Cement Industry Bentonite

The use of natural bentonite in the cement industry, which is the driving force of the construction industry, increases as the impact scores become visible. In recent years, this industrial demand has come not only from the country but also from the countries in the region. In our country which has a strong cement industry and production, we are pleased to welcome those requests in this direction.

Because the inclusion of Natural Reşadiye / Hittite Bentonite at high concentration (5% of cement) also provides fluidity as well as preventing precipitation in injection grout, which is a big problem. The bentonite shaft increases the shear threshold considerably, while the plastic shear increases at a relatively low rate. This condition is assumed to be due to bentonite slip property (also called lubricant effect). The plastic viscosity determines the flow rate of the slurry and the slip threshold determines the maximum transmission length. Thus, the bentonite limits the volume of slurry during flow. Whereas the fluidizers reduce the shear threshold to a large extent and the viscosity to a relatively low level, the flow rate increases and the injection process is completed in a short time.

This does not mean that the lubricant effect of bentonite is not as important as the addition of plasticizer. This is because the function of bentonite providing slurry stability should still be considered valid. Particularly in the case of rock cracks, this will be eliminated as adding fine sand. Addition of approximate 0.5% bentonite to such sandy injection mortars avoids sedimentation.


Advantages we provide
• Cement grouts should be mixed with water and natural Karben bentonite and be waited for at least two hours before adding cement.
• Karben Bentonite gives a lubrication to the cement grout and increases the syringe penetration to fine cracks.
• When mixed with cement grout, it increases the rate in fine-grained alluvium. Thus, cement failure is prevented. Karben Bentonite mixtures behave like a fluid, when mixing is stopped, a homogeneous hardening occurs and high strengths are gained. It is resistant to chemical effects and groundwater.
• Karben Bentonite minimizes water decomposition in cement-water mixture.
• It is recommended to add 0.3% - 0.7% sodium phosphate or 5% sodium silicate to the sieves prepared with Karben bentonite, based on the weight of the water used in the mixture.
• Karben Bentonite repairs cracks in walls made to prevent water infiltration. It provides slippery to cement grout and increases grout penetration to fine cracks. To clog the cracks, it is mixed with 1/1 water and troweled with trowel.
• The addition of 1% of Karben Bentonite to portland cement resulted in increased mechanical strength and decreased freezing time.

Note: To make more effective and economical; it is advised to use the natural Karben Bentonite Syrup beforehand, which is prepared in advance and ready for watering.
